BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – The second of two forest fires that broke out in Ocean County, NJ last week has been deemed intentional.
According to NJ State Department spokesman Larry Ragonese, the first fire, which caused evacuations in Berkeley Township/Beachwood, is believed to have been caused by discarded cigarette butts.
Meanwhile, a second fire in Double Trouble State Park is being investigated as intentional arson. The State Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are investigating that blaze.
The fires, which were two of four that broke out in South Jersey last week, burned more than 500 acres of forest.
