MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) - A Mount Laurel man is taking a break from his job in order to volunteer to help injured veterans.
Sixty-year old Joe Green has been given six-months off from his job to work with the Warrior Weekend Program.
He says it gives soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan a weekend or week long break from their hospital rooms and the routine of healing.
"It's R&R. We usually take them out to a nice restaurant, try to arrange a trip, take them to a ball game; whatever they want to do. They also have the option not to do a single thing. In a lot of instances these folks have been away from their families for quite a while and they just want to sit back and reconnect with their families," says Green.
He says the trips could take the soldiers to Philadelphia, Boston, New York or the Delaware shore.
