NJ Lottery Game Suspended After Low Ticket Sales

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Officials are suspending a new multi-state lottery game after just two months because of lower-than-expected ticket sales.

Tickets for the Monopoly Millionaires' Club game, which aimed at doling out more $1 million prizes, will end by the final drawing on Dec. 26.

The $5 ticket game was launched in 23 states in October.

New Jersey Lottery executive director Carole Hedinger says concepts were incorporated into the game that have been popular elsewhere, but they just didn't do as well in New Jersey.

Monopoly Millionaires' Club was advertised as a move away from the large jackpots that players have come to expect through Powerball and Mega Millions. Monopoly Millionaires' Club game capped its top prize at $25 million, and it was designed for players to win more $1 million prizes.
