Camden Police Union Rejects Concession Plan
CAMDEN, NJ (AP) - The main union representing police officers in Camden has rejected a concession deal that could have put about 100 laid-off officers back to work. (see previous story).
Fraternal Order of Police local president John Williamson said the vote was 300 to 1 against the measure.
He says the city was offering to bring back officers if they agreed to three unpaid furlough days a month for six months, then one more day a month for the next year.
Williamson says he'll keep negotiating.

Camden Mayor Dana Redd said in a statement that she was disappointed with the rejection.
Nearly half the police force was laid off earlier this week, along with firefighters and other municipal employees.
The city is among the poorest and most dangerous in the nation.
