NJ Farm Recalls Fruit Sold At Wawa Stores
NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Farms New Jersey is recalling products that contain mangoes or that might have been processed on the same equipment as mangoes potentially tainted with salmonella.
The company said Friday that it is recalling nine products that were distributed to 127 Wawa stores in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania and sold under the Wawa brand. Most have a sell-by date of Aug. 30 or earlier.
Federal health officials are currently investigating 103 known cases of salmonella infection and other food producers have pulled products.
Taylor Farms is recalling 8-ounce packages of Wawa mangoes; 9-ounce packages of pineapple, strawberries and mangoes; 7-ounce pineapple snack packages; 11-ounce melon mix packages; large mixed fruit 12-ounce packages; watermelon in 8-ounce packages; 7.5-ounce small mixed fruit; and mixed fruit with kiwi in 9.7-ounce packages.
The recall applies to packages that have Julian codes of 237 or earlier and sell-by dates of Aug. 30 or earlier. Taylor Farms is also recalling Wawa mango and yogurt parfaits in 7.5-ounce packages. The parfaits have Julian codes of 236 or earlier and sell-by dates of Sept. 3 or earlier.
Health officials in the U.S. and Canada are trying to figure out which brands or sources of mangoes caused the illnesses. No deaths have been reported.
