NJ Congressman Wants Pakistan To Answer Questions About Bin Laden
HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ (CBS) - South Jersey Congressman Rob Andrews welcomed the news that US military special forces were able to find and kill Osama bin Laden, but he says there are now some tough questions that need to be asked about who knew where he was living and for how long.
The Democratic lawmaker says his emotions are a mix of sorrow for the families who lost loved ones on September 11th and gratitude and exhilaration for the members of our military who carried out the mission to find bin Laden. But now Andrews says there some questions that need to be answered.
"I find it hard to believe that no one in the Pakistani intelligence structure had any idea bin Laden was living as close as he was to Islamabad," Adrews says. "That raises some very serious questions about our relationship with that country."
Andrews who sits on the House Committee on Armed Services expects there will be a number of hearings in Washington in the weeks and months ahead to find out what the intelligence community and the Navy SEALS did right and he says we should learn from the mission and reassess even though it was successful.
