Nighttime Scholastic Sports Has New Hope, Pa. Community Divided

NEW HOPE, Pa. (CBS) -- The New Hope-Solebury school board has passed a motion prohibiting future night games there, following complaints about the lights and noise from residents in a nearby neighborhood.
After the fall season, students in the district will no longer be able to play games at night.
"What I think is upsetting the entire New Hope and Solebury community is that our ability to watch our kids play sports at night (and) to have their classmates join them has been taken away," says Leah Ingram, whose daughter plays field hockey.
Ingram says this decision forces parents to take time off from work to attend afternoon games, and other school districts are now scrambling to adjust their future schedules.
"We have to follow this motion," acknowledges schools superintendent Raymond Boccuti. "We are looking at the impact on the winter and spring schedule, and we'll have to see (about changes) at the next board meetings, because people are coming out to express their opinion."
And that is just what board president Amanda Elefante wants. In a statement, she says the board wants everyone engaged so the best outcome for the community can be reached.
