Nick Foles And LeSean McCoy Nominated For ESPYS

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- Every July ESPN honors the best in the world of sports at the ESPYS. This year two Eagles players have been nominated for awards and fans will have the chance to vote for them as they look to take home some hardware. Nick Foles was nominated for 'Best Breakthrough Athlete' and LeSean McCoy was nominated for 'Best NFL Player.'
Neither Eagle lucked out with an easy category.
Foles will have to go up against Trailblazers point guard, Damian Lillard, Seahawks cornerback and newly named Madden Cover Boy, Richard Sherman as well as Yankees ace, Masahiro Tanaka.
Although, Foles put up some impressive numbers, he will certainly be at somewhat of a disadvantage to all three of his competitors. Lillard and Sherman both have the success edge over Foles.
Lillard led the Trailblazers to an exciting first round playoff victory over the favored Houston Rockets. Sherman was the outspoken leader of the NFL's most feared defense and ultimately finished the year with a Super Bowl ring.
Tanaka has time on his side. It's been a while since people have seen Foles throw a pass while Tanaka has cemented himself as a sound investment for the Yankees with an 11-2 record in his first 15 starts to go along with his 2.11 ERA.
For McCoy, it's a different battle, but a tough one all the same.
Shady is up for 'Best NFL Player,' quite an honor for the Chip Kelly's featured back. McCoy has made some noise lately proclaiming himself as the best running back in the league, but is he the best player in football?
The other nominees are Chiefs running back, Jamaal Charles, Panthers linebacker, Luke Kuechly, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, and Seahawks signal caller Russell Wilson.
McCoy out rushed Charles by more than 300 yards last season and averaged nearly 15 more rushing yards per game. However, he had three fewer rushing touchdowns than Charles.
He may have best running back locked up, but it will be difficult to compare him to players who played different positions. It will be nearly impossible for McCoy to edge out the two quarterbacks that played in the Super Bowl, but you never know. That's why we vote.
