PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Thursday will be a similar day to Wednesday with scattered showers, cloudy skies and unseasonably cool temps around the region.

A weather graphic showing the forecast for Thursday, Philadelphia, the Shore and Lehigh Valley will see showers, temperature in Philadelphia is 78, at the shore is 76, in Lehigh Valley is 73

And then we watch for Tropical Storm Debby — or what's left of it — on Friday.

A NEXT Weather Alert has been issued for Friday because the storm will be moving into the region.

Models are coming into better agreement that Debby will get picked up by another advancing trough and lifted into the northeast by Friday night, completely exiting our area by 11 p.m. Friday.

A weather map showing rain totals expected on Friday, 1 inch in Philadelphia, 5 in Altoona and Scranton

While the center of Debby's circulation and the heaviest rain will likely ride up the spine of the Appalachian range and stay just to our west, we can expect a band of heavy thunderstorms on Friday. With tropical moisture in place, these storms will once again bring the threat of flooding rain, with the highest amounts likely in the northwest portion of our region. Winds will pick up on Friday as well as Debby moves by, with gusts to 30-40 mph.

The NEXT Weather team has removed the Weather Alert for the weekend as sunshine and lower humidity will be in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

Remember, do not drive through flooded roads. Turn around and don't drown! It only takes a few inches of water to stall a car and anything higher risks floating your vehicle.

As always, the NEXT Weather Team will keep you posted with constant updates throughout this busy week.
