Next Samsung Smartphone May Allow Finger-Free Scrolling
By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Next week, Samsung will take the wraps off the next version of its bestselling Galaxy smartphone. But you won't quite be able to put your finger on one of its brand-new features.
Reading a long e-mail, a web site, or your Twitter feed can be taxing on your thumb (or preferred digit). So, according to a report in The New York Times, new software built into the Galaxy S IV will let you use your eyes to scroll and pause the screen.
We don't know how eye scrolling will work -- or if it will work well in practice. But Samsung's current blockbuster flagship -- the Galaxy S III -- keeps the screen from automatically dimming when you're looking at it with help from a face-sensing, front-facing camera.
