Newlyweds Wear Wedding Attire To Philadelphia In Hopes Of Receiving Pope's Blessing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Local newlyweds traveled to Philadelphia and are wearing their wedding attire in hopes of meeting Pope Francis.

The bride is wearing her wedding gown, and the groom is wearing his suit.

"We're here because we'd like to meet Pope Francis. In Rome there's a tradition where newlyweds can come in their wedding attire and they get to meet the Pope so we're hoping that we'll be able to do that here in Philadelphia," said Blake Robinson.

Christina Robinson talked about the reception they have received while in Philadelphia.

'It's been great. Just so much fun, everybody wanted to take pictures with us, there was a little girl who thought I was a princess, so it's been a lot of fun," said Christina Robinson.

They also shared what the blessing would mean for them as a newly married couple.

'We'd be very excited to receive it, we try to pray for the Pope a lot and we think that his prayers and his blessing are really important so it would be amazing for our marriage," said Blake.

The couple was married last month in Allentown.
