New Wave Of Post-Sandy Mold Issues Hits Atlantic County

NORTHFIELD, N.J. - Atlantic County wants residents to make sure they don't get bit twice by Superstorm Sandy.
Mold removal experts say they're seeing a new wave of growth.
"Now that we're in consecutive 80-degree days of hot, humid weather mold is starting to flourish," says Dan Rostelli, owner of MDRS Green Services.
Rostelli says right after Sandy mold was a wide-spread issue in homes that sprung leaks. Now he says the problems are usually where people didn't have the mold properly addressed and thought it went away.
"People want it tested cause they're seeing it inside the house, the closets, in shoes and in crawl spaces," says Rostelli, "so yeah we're starting to get a pretty significant wave of calls about now."
The health effects of mold exposure can range from nose and throat irritation to severe asthma attacks.
Atlantic County is planning a free mold seminar Saturday July 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the West Atlantic Fire House, 7004 Black Horse Pike.
