New Wall Graces Citizen's Bank Park For Roger Waters Concert
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a new wall in the outfield at Citizens Bank Park, but this one is the backdrop for Saturday night's Roger Waters concert.
Crews at Citizens Bank Park are putting the finishing touches on the 240-foot wide wall that will serve as the focal point as Roger Waters performs Pink Floyd's legendary rock masterpiece, The Wall.
Production manager Chris Kansy says it's a unique endeavor, staging a theatrical rock show, at a big-league ballpark.
"We span across center field and play towards home plate. I think that gives the audience the maximum vantage point, and gives the wall a very symmetrical large view and format," explains Kansy.
During the first half of the show, or side one of the album, the workers build The Wall with one white cardboard brick at a time.
After playing Fenway and Wrigley earlier this summer, this is the final ballpark show of The Wall Live tour.
