New Twitter Feature Makes It Easier To Join The Conversation

By KYW social media editor Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a new feature on Twitter that lets users follow editor-curated events from start to finish.

Twitter is rolling out the new feature -- called "Moments" -- that curates stories trending on the platform.

The social network will gather data on the trending topics and combine it with pictures, GIF's, vines and tweets, so users can keep track of the latest information in real-time.

"Moments" can be accessed by tapping on the new lightning bolt icon at the top or bottom of the screen, depending whether you're on desktop or mobile version of the service.

After clicking the icon, users will find trending stories on breaking news, sports, entertainment and other categories.

There is a progress bar at the bottom that indicates how much more each Moment has to offer, and at the end of a Moment, users can click the share button to Tweet their thoughts and send it to their followers.

Most Moments are assembled by Twitter's curation team, but the network does have a number of launch partners including The New York Times, Vogue, CNN, Fox News and Buzzfeed.
