New Rutgers-Camden Art Exhibit Really Is Collection Of 'Hidden Treasures'

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) - Rutgers University in Camden is displaying over 50 pieces of art that have been hidden for years.

The exhibit, called Hidden Treasures, includes works by Jasper Johns, Salvador Dali, Joe Goode, Lowell Nesbitt (an official NASA artist) and others. Noreen Scott Garrity, Associate Director for Education for the Rutgers Camden Center for the Arts, says the exhibition's title is not hyperbole.

"These are pieces that were put away in our storeroom, not even framed, but in storage in drawers. Most of these artworks have recently been framed so they really are being seen, pretty much, for the first time," Garrity says.

The exhibition is free and open to the public and will be in the Stedman Gallery through August 12th. The pieces will then be put on public display throughout the Rutgers Camden campus.
