New Poll Shows Most New Jersey Residents Did Not Make Plans To Mark 10th Anniversary Of 9/11
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Did you make any plans to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks? A new poll found most New Jersey residents did not.
About a quarter of the 800 people surveyed by the Monmouth University Polling Institute said they'd mark the occasion in public or private. However, 70 percent had no plans at all. Poll director Patrick Murray says most New Jerseyans feel safer now than they did then.
"Forty-five percent say that the country is more safe than it was prior to the attack. Nineteen percent say it's less safe. Thirty-five percent say there's been no change. Basically, most people think that we're less likely to suffer the consequences of an attack even though the possibility exists, even more so, that people will try to attack."
Still, most of those questioned say they still think about 9-11 on occasion. Murray suggests people, for the most part, want to move on with their lives.
