New Jersey's Fourth Gun Buyback Program Under Way
ASBURY PARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's fourth state-sponsored gun buyback program is under way in two locations.
The guns-for-cash initiative in Monmouth County will take place in Asbury Park and Keansburg from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Weapons are exchanged for up to $250 under the no-questions-asked program.
It is funded through state and county forfeiture funds.
Officials have netted more than 5,000 weapons from three gun buybacks in Camden, Mercer and Essex counties since December.
A fifth gun buyback is scheduled for Atlantic County on March 22 and 23.
