New Jersey Transportation Officials Revisit Adding Buses To Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Would you take the bus to work in Philadelphia from South Jersey if the service were improved? New Jersey transportation officials are looking into four alternatives that, in time, might just do that.
It's been talked about for years, providing express bus routes along 42 and 55 to get some people out of their cars. The various options now under consideration could cost $100 million and take years to complete.
Although New Jersey Transit planner R.J. Palladino suggests some changes could come sooner. "The first thing might be about locating park-ride locations that could actually be ahead of the deployment of the full system."
That concept could include bus-only lanes built in the medians or along the shoulders of portions of those roads. Firm suggestions are expected this fall which could be integrated with the still-under-consideration light rail link from Camden through Woodbury to Glassboro.
