New Jersey State Police Arrest Two Boys For Throwing Rocks Into Traffic On AC Expressway
EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. (CBS) - The arrests of two juveniles in Atlantic County is hoped to put an end to a recent rash of rock and debris-throwing incidents on the eastern end of the Atlantic City Expressway.
Two 12-year-olds were seen by state troopers chucking a piece of wood from an overpass into oncoming traffic Monday night in Egg Harbor Township. Earlier, a rock shattered a glass window on a Greyhound bus, injuring an eight-year-old girl.
In all, there have been 18 such incidents in the last two weeks, according to New Jersey State Police Lieutenant Stephen Jones.
"We're hoping that the arrests of these two juveniles really just took care of most of it. It's a little hard to tell. We can't tie them to all these incidents right now," Jones explained.
The kids are in their parents' custody, awaiting hearings in juvenile court on charges including aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
Jones says police take things like this seriously because people have been killed as a result of stunts like these.
