New Jersey Ranked One Of Worst States To Make A Living

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – New Jersey might be one of the country's richest states, but it's also one of the worst states to make a living.

That's according to the fourth annual MoneyRates.com study of the Best and Worst States to Make a Living, which analyzed things like the cost of living, average salary, employment rate and workplace conditions for all 50 states.

While Hawaii was the overall worst state to work, New Jersey didn't fare too well either. The Garden State ranked the ninth worst and was cited for its "very high cost of living" and fairly high unemployment rate.

MoneyRates.com also explained that, based on an analysis of the "Work Environment" section of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, New Jersey also earned a sub-par score for workplace conditions.

Looking for a job? Move to Washington, Texas or Minnesota, which came in first, second and third best respectively.
