New Jersey Man Charged With Heroin Trafficking
DUMMERSTON, Vt. (AP) — A New Jersey man has been charged with heroin trafficking in Vermont after police said they found 510 bags of the drug in his vehicle.
Vermont State Police say a trooper pulled over 32-year-old Eugene Paul Williams-Rice, of Freehold, N.J., Friday afternoon on Interstate 91 in Dummerston because his vehicle registration was expired.
After stopping the sport utility vehicle, police say they saw Williams-Rice smoking marijuana and later determined his license was suspended.
In a search of the SUV, police allegedly found more than half an ounce of heroin with an estimated street value of about $10,000, along with half an ounce of marijuana.
Williams-Rice was charged with heroin trafficking and possession of heroin and marijuana. He's being held on $50,000 bail.
