New Jersey Judge Reprimanded For Yelling At Woman
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court has reprimanded a Superior Court judge for yelling at a woman and telling her she had "no clue" what it is to be a parent.
The court placed a written letter in Judge Max Baker's file. Baker was presiding judge of the family division in Atlantic County until he was transferred to the criminal division in July.
The tirade took place on Dec. 31, 2009, when the woman and her estranged husband appeared without lawyers to request restraining orders against each other.
The judge told a judicial review committee that he was "harsh" and had spoken to the woman "in an inappropriate manner."
Baker said he was "burned out" from his years in family court.
