New Jersey Crash That Killed Three Classified As Intentional
EDISON, N.J. (CBS/AP) — Authorities in central New Jersey say an auto crash that killed three people this week was intentional.
The Edison teenager who caused a wrong-way car crash early Tuesday was attempting to kill himself and had allegedly written a suicide note on his body.
Srijan Saha, a 15-year-old sophomore at John P. Stevens High School in Edison, was driving the wrong way on Route 27 North when he struck another vehicle head-on, killing himself, 46-year-old Mohammed Zia and 36-year-old Ali Behzad, according to sources and classmates who requested anonymity.
The 15-year-old driver veered his 1995 Honda Civic into oncoming traffic and struck a Nissan Altima driven by Zia. The teen died along with Zia and his passenger, Behzad. All three victims lived in Edison.
Zia and Behzad each left behind three children.
Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan say the accident has been classified as a suicide-homicide.
They did not offer details on a motive.
