New Housing Facility Opens For Seniors In Elkins Park
By Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In Elkins Park, the doors have opened to a housing facility that caters to impoverished senior citizens.
The opening of the Samuel A. Green House was five years in the making. Richard Green, CEO of FirstTrust Bank, says the facility will serve a much needed purpose segment of the community that greatly needs shelter and care.
"There are 88 apartments and it's designed for low and moderate income elderly housing. And its one of nine projects that it sponsors. It's a public private partnership."
The public sector contribution to the $20 million project came the Federal stimulus and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
