New Foods, New Merchandise On Deck For Phillies' Ballpark

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's been a very busy off-season at Citizens Bank Park, including development of new Phillies' merchandise and foods that will be available this season.

You can still buy popcorn and peanuts at the ballpark.  But why would you when you there's a full-blown banquet out there?

Here are just some of the new items that senior executive chef Glenn Richmond and his staff have come up with for 2012: chicken and pork tacos, chicken nachos, chicken pesto ricotta, and Italian grinder panini.

"My favorite is the crackling pork sandwich," Richmond told KYW Newsradio today.  "It's a slow-roasted pork with arugula.   And then we have a corn dog we're going to be doing in-house, and warm pretzels."

At Harry the K's, there will be Texas tommys  served on seeded rolls, and "disco" fries slathered in cheese, bacon, and gravy.

There's also going to be a dessert alley featuring home-baked cupcakes.

Over at the Majestic Clubhouse, a ton of new items will be available -- everything from game-used  jerseys and bats to barbecue branders and Phillies' baby diapers.

Director of marketing Scott Brandreth says they are driven by a truly fanatical fan base and the need to come up with new revenue streams to meet one of the biggest payrolls in baseball.

"The store is open seven days a week now, which wasn't even the case a year ago," he notes.  "Basically, every day we're trying to get in front of the fans and selling product."
