New Federal Donuts' Kickstarter To Help Philadelphia Homeless
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Tom Henneman, one of the owners of Federal Donuts---as well as Governor Ed Rendell---were in studio with the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday explaining a new kickstarter company called the Rooster Soup Co., in which Federal Donuts is helping the homeless in Philadelphia.
"So what we're doing with the proceeds from these [Federal] donuts is to fund a kick-starter for a new company that Federal Donuts is launching in conjunction with the Broad Street Hospitality collaborative," Henneman explain. "What we do is, we are taking the proceeds of the doughnut, and forming a new company. So the Broad Street Ministry feeds over 60,000 people a year, but it's not just about feeding these people, it's providing them with social services, medical services, a place to get their mail."
Henneman says they are already about half-way to their goal.
"We have some private donors that will match---we are looking to raise $150,000 and I believe we are about $75,000 of the way there," Henneman explained on the 94WIP Morning Show. "This isn't just about Federal Donuts and this isn't just about Broad Street Ministry. This is about Philadelphia. Now, we all have an opportunity to help."
Henneman stated one hundred percent of the profits will be donated. More information here.
