New Facility In New Castle County Creates More Than 60 New Jobs
MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) -- Middletown will soon be home to a new Johnson Controls facility.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday for the 400,000-square-foot facility, which will perform the charging, packaging and distribution of automotive batteries for the northeast United States. It is expected to be complete by Aug. 1 and operations are slated to be set up by Sept. 1.
Johnson Controls currently employs more than 200 people at a manufacturing plant in Middletown and the new facility will create more than 60 new jobs. The company is investing more than $75 million in the new facility and received a $2.06 million grant from the Delaware Economic Development Office.
Middletown mayor Kenneth Branner says the town is ready for the project and is looking forward to the economic boost it will provide.
