New Exhibit In Center City Focuses On Artwork By People With Disabilities

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Community Gallery at the Philadelphia Foundation is showing a special exhibit of work by those living with disabilities.

The exhibit - The Artist is All of Us - features paintings, prints, collages, photographs and handmade books by the artists of the Cultural Arts Center of the Philadelphia Developmental Disabilities Corporation, artists with developmental disabilities.

Linda Prince, associate director of the center, says the exhibit really gives the artists a boost. "It really gives them a sense of pride and a sense of empowerment. There's nothing better than seeing your artwork on a wall and seeing a bunch of other people looking at it and smiling about it."

The exhibit will be at 1234 Market Street, Suite 1800 through August 31st.

The Philadelphia Foundation is also releasing a guide to visitors listing the nonprofits that serve those with disabilities.
