New E-ZPass-Only Slip Ramp Is Open In Bucks Co.
BENSALEM (CBS) - A new E-ZPass-only slip ramp is now open on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bucks County and it's designed to alleviate congestion at the toll road's second busiest interchange.
About 65,000 vehicles pass through the Bensalem interchange every day and the expansion at Parx Casino is only expected to push that number higher. To alleviate some of that congestion, drivers heading eastbound on the turnpike can now exit at the E-ZPass-only interchange which will dump them right onto Street Road according to turnpike spokesman Carl DeFebo:
"We're expecting to relieve some of the pressure that the Bensalem exit sees every day by about 7,000 to 8,000 vehicles a day."
Drivers can also get on at the new interchange from Street Road if they are heading east on the turnpike. The new ramps are only for cars and not trucks. This is the second E-ZPass-only interchange with the other one being at Virginia Drive. Construction is scheduled to begin next year on a third one at Route 29 in Chester County.
