New Clue Emerges in 2009 Disappearance of Chesco Woman

KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. (CBS) -- An anonymous letter mailed to a private detective in Chester County could shed some new light on the disappearance of a woman who has been missing since the summer of 2009.
Toni Sharpless would be 33 years old now. She was last seen in August 2009, after she and a friend left the Lower Merion home of former Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Willie Green.
Private detective Eileen Law, who has been investigating the case for the family, says she received a letter last month in which the writer claims he was offered money to drive her car to Boston.
"And he said that he was told by this person that Toni had been involved in a fight with a Camden police officer, that she died, and the police officer needed to get the car out of Jersey," Law (right) tells KYW Newsradio.
Two weeks after Sharpless disappeared, police say, the license plate of her Pontiac Grand Prix was recorded by an automatic license plate reader in Camden, NJ.
The letter writer claims to have the license plate from the car and her Social Security card.
Law says there are holes in the story, but she will add the information to what she already has, to try to solve the disappearance.
