New Baby Jaguar Gets First Photo Op At Philadelphia Zoo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Zoo's new jaguar cub made his first official public appearance today.
While his mother, Kanga, called and preened before the news media, ten-week-old Lucha (Spanish for "fight" or "wrestle") stayed among the trees and bushes of the glass-enclosed exhibit for several minutes before finally making his appearance to oohs and aahs, and clicks of cameras.

"He is the first jaguar born at the Philadelphia Zoo in 30 years," says Kaye Buffamonte, lead keeper at the zoo's Big Cat Falls exhibit. "He is only one of four boys in the captive United States population in the last three years. So that makes him a very important and valuable animal for us."
The public will be able to see Lucha beginning on Saturday. Keepers advise that like a lot of babies, he's most active in the morning.
