New App Rewards Couch Potatoes For Watching TV

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Getting paid to watch your favorite shows sounds like one of those come-ons that's too good to be true. But a new app promises to reward you for being a couch potato.
With a free iPhone or iPad app, Viggle lets you check-in to what's on TV -- every time you do, marketing VP Jason Reindorp says you earn points.
"You redeem those points for real rewards -- things like movie tickets, song downloads, gift cards."
For some big names.
"Sephora, Burger King, Best Buy."
You also collect points for watching videos, ads on the app, or by playing Viggle's show-related games.
"If you were to check in to three or four of those shows and then maybe watch a video or play a game, you'd have enough for a Starbucks card or something like that."
He says it works for shows you DVR, and if you zoom through the commercials.
"We're agnostic to that."
There's an Android version coming in a couple weeks.
