New Americans Tour Launches In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia is home to a new tour designed to help immigrants seeking to become new citizens.
As KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg reports, the City of Brotherly Love is a great cheat sheet.
Answers to more than 60 of the 100 questions on the U.S. citizenship test can be found right here in Philadelphia.
"So they would ask, how many amendments does the Constitution have," says Adriana Arvizo.

Originally from Mexico, Adriana Arvizo is a public relations manager at VisitPhiladelphia. She came up with the idea for the New Americans tour, when she was studying to take the test to become an American citizen.
"I lived in Texas for six years. If I would still be in Texas, I don't think I would know all the answers that I know today," says Arvizo.
The new tour includes 13 stops, including the Betsy Ross House, Liberty Bell and the National Constitution Center, providing immigrants like Arvizo with a deeper understanding of American history.
"Somehow if you visit that stays in your mind, as opposed to reading it in a book," says Arvizo.
The Mayor's Office of Immigrant and Cultural Affairs says Philadelphia's immigrant population has increased 40 percent since 2000. The self guided tour is available for download at visitphilly.com/newamericans.
