New Castle Airport In Wilmington Gives Travelers More Air Travel Options

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - For convenience, or out of habit, Philadelphia International is probably your first choice when it comes to airports, but several options recently have cropped up in our area; first in Trenton and now in New Castle, Delaware.
Frontier Airlines has been flying out of central Jersey for a little less than a year and now there are nonstop flights from New Castle's Wilmington airport.
"Tampa, Orlando, Chicago, Houston, and Denver. And we've just announced Fort Myers, Florida will be beginning in November of 2013," says Airport Director Stephen Williams.
He says there's just one terminal with no jetways; meaning you'll have to walk outside when boarding the plane. Also there's only a cafe and vending machines, but it keeps costs down and allows for free parking, for now.
"So far, I think passengers are really, really happy with what we're offering," says Williams.
"I was just blown away by the ease of the whole thing," says Felicia, of Media, Pa.
She ditched the closer PHL for the first flight to Chicago at ILG this past week.
"If you take a look at the sum total of the time involved, it is far faster because you don't have to go through the parking garage, and all the spaces where you can't find parking. No long security line -- it's just a breeze at Wilmington," Felicia explains.
