Neither Fast Nor Furious, 3 Car Thieves Plead Guilty In Montco

LIMERICK, Pa. (CBS) -- Three men from the Washington, DC area have admitted their role in the theft of three fast and expensive cars from a Montgomery County car dealership last summer, part of what prosecutors say was a multi-state vehicle theft ring.
The trio admitted to theft and related charges for stealing a Chevrolet Corvette, a Camaro, and a Pontiac G-8 from the Fred Beans dealership in Limerick.
Authorities say the cars are worth about $85,000 in all. Police say the crooks also stole rims and wheels worth another $15,000.
Authorities say the crime spree targeted dealerships from Richmond, Va. to the Philadelphia area.
"Great detective work led to the arrest of these gentlemen," says Montgomery County prosecutor Noah Marlier. "They thought they were in a 'fast and furious' campaign of stealing cars up and down the east coast, and we put the brakes on that here in Montgomery County."
He believes the car thieves targeted Beans because of its proximity to interstate highways, and says they went to great lengths to try to avoid detection and tolls by using back roads to return to Maryland.
Two of the men will spend several months behind bars. A third is awaiting sentencing, and a fourth suspect has been identified but not yet arrested.
