Near Amazon's Warehouse in Del., Excitement Over Eventual 'Drone' Deliveries

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Amazon founder Jeff Bezos last night on CBS' "60 Minutes" program unveiled what he said was his company's latest top-secret research and development project: a small helicopter drone that could be programmed to deliver small packages to purchasers' doorsteps.
Bezos says Amazon envisions being able to deliver small packages within 30 minutes of your purchase if you live close enough to one of their warehouses.
Amazon has a huge warehouse facility in New Castle, Del., so we spoke with nearby residents about the possibility of drones in their future, and in their neighborhood.
Anwar had this opinion:
"It's good -- it's good!"
He says he is not concerned about an unmanned drone hovering near his home.
"I would be OK with that," said Joyce, another New Castle resident. "The only problem I have is that it takes a job away from a person, and I'm not really happy about that."
Carol said this development reminds her of one of her favorite cartoons -- the Jetsons.
"It's crazy, it's cool...it's really cool! I'll bet the kids will like it. I'll have to tell them how the mail is coming."
Amazon admits that its "Prime Air" delivery service will take some number of years before becoming reality as they advance the technology (for example, ensuring that the copter won't land on someone's head) and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations.
