NCAA Bracket Buzz Growing As Philadelphians Peruse Their Picks
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Millions of Americans are using varying methods (from deep team research to darts) to fill out their NCAA basketball tournament "brackets."
With 64 slots in the main bracket, after the early play-in games fill the final ones, it's still a large field to pick a Final Four, much less a Final One.
I found Eugene Price eating lunch at the Comcast Marketplace.
"I like Michigan because (of) who the point guard is, Tim Hardaway Jr.," he advises, "but you gotta deal with Duke because of Mike Krzyzewski -- brilliant coach."
A few blocks away at the Shops at Liberty Place, I found Mike W. poring over the sports section of the Daily News. And while he says he doesn't actually dive in until there are 32 teams left, his prediction is bad news for Temple.
"I like NC State to sneak in a win it all, but at the same time I believe Gonzaga is as good as advertised," he said today.
Temple plays NC State on Friday at 1:40pm.
