Navy Rear Admiral David Baucom, Former Presidential Military Aide, To Head Local Defense Agency
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Montgomery County resident has taken over the helm of a local defense agency that provides support for American troops around the world.
Tucked away in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia is the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support. It's a $14 billion organization that supplies American forces with food, uniforms, protective equipment, medicine and other equipment.
The majority of the organization's three thousand workers are employed there and the new man at the top is Navy Rear Admiral David Baucom who plans to be even more effective and efficient in delivering logistics
"We must ensure that we squeeze every penny of value from our American taxpayer dollars. So we're focusing on being the most responsive to our war fighters while being the most frugal," says Baucom.
He says his mantra is "It can be done!" adopted from a placard that President Reagan kept on his desk during his eight year administration.
Baucom was a military aide to the former president.
