Natura Dry Pet Food Recalled Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Natura Pet Products has issued a voluntarily recall of its dry pet food due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The company says there have been no Salmonella-related illnesses confirmed to date.
Natura says Salmonella can affect animals eating the products as well as humans handling the contaminated pet products.
The company says pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain.
Natura instructs pet owners to contact their veterinarian if their pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms.
The company also warns that people infected with Salmonella could show symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
People exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Consumers who have purchased these pet foods should discard them.
The recall affects Natura's dry foods only. No canned wet food is affected by the recall.
