National Marbles Tournament About To Start In NJ
WILDWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Thousands of children from around the country will gather in a New Jersey shore resort this week to compete in the 90th annual National Marbles Tournament.
Known as "mibsters," the young marbles players will compete in more than a 1,200 games during the four-day tournament that gets underway Monday at Ringer Stadium in Wildwood.
During the competition, the youths will try to be the first to knock seven marbles out of a circle using a shooter marble. The games are played on the beach in rings that were built for the competition.
Winners will receive scholarships and other awards and prizes.
