Murnaghan Family: Sarah Makes Important Step Towards Recovery
By Tim Jimenez
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The family of the 10-year-old Newtown Square girl who received two lung transplants in June shared some good news Thursday.
Sarah Murnaghan has had four surgeries in the past month. Earlier this week, she underwent her most recent procedure to repair her diaphragm. And from that surgery, a positive step, according to family friend and spokeswoman Tracy Simon.
"Sarah's first lung biopsy taken during her surgery that she had the other day showed no rejection, which is a very important step in Sarah's full recovery," said Tracy Simon.
Sarah's mother Janet Murnaghan has been giving updates on Facebook. And hours after sharing the good news, Janet posted a video of her talking to Sarah.
Janet said to her daughter, "Hi Sarah. I love you."
"And she mouths back, 'I love you,'" says Simon.
And on this holiday, Tracy says many are calling Sarah, "Little Ms. Firecracker" as she continues the fight for her life.
