"Murder" Outside Temple Hospital Wasn't, Say Philly Police
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police now say what they first thought was a robbery and possibly a murder near Temple Hospital on Tuesday morning (above) has turned out to be something very different.
Police initally believed a pregant woman had robbed a 60-year-old man, who died soon thereafter when his head hit the pavement (see previous story).
But authorities now say that further investigation indicates the woman was the robbery victim. Homicide captain James Clark:
"(Deceased) Nathaniel Dotson was inside a female's apartment, and it was believed he had taken some things from her apartment. She found out, she then came out and actually was pursuing hm to give back the items that were taken from her apartment, at which time we believe Mr. Dotson had some type of medical emergency and from that point on passed away."
The woman did not remain at the scene, but Capt. Clark say she was later questioned, was forthcoming, and was released by police because there was no evidence she did anything to cause the death.
Some things allegedly taken from the woman, who is pregnant, were recovered from the dead man.
