Mummified Frogs On Exhibit At The Franklin Institute

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One of the highlights of the upcoming Mummies of the World exhibit at the Franklin Institute is a demonstration of just how mummification happens.

You can hear the demonstration on mummification in this CBS Philly 'At Your Leisure' podcast…

A demonstration cart will be set up during the course of the exhibit Mummies of the World, which features 40 mummies from not only Egypt, but Asia, Europe and South America. The cart will feature frogs, mummified in a variety of ways: in sand, in salt, in vinegar and other components, designed to show visitors the many ways the human and animal mummies in the exhibit were preserved.

"We will have this cart running every day at various times," says Buddy Mueller, science interpreter for the Franklin Institute.  "It will be posted as you come into the museum.  You'll be able to find out right away exactly what times and the location of our demonstrations.  But it will be every single day during the course of the exhibit."

Mummies of the World will be at the Franklin Institute from June 18th through October 23rd.
