Mummers Art Displayed On Philadelphia City Hall Walls

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The art of the Mummers is evident in everything from their costumes to their elaborate routines. Now, that art is on display on the walls of City Hall.
Culture and nightlife are beacons that Mayor Nutter says generates $24 million-a-day in the region. The Mummers are unique, so an exhibit "Fancy Folks: Art and Mummery" is now on display in City Hall to celebrate their legacy.
"This project celebrates the pageantry and spectacle that is Mummery. It is a celebration of art and artifacts inspired by the city's great folk art tradition and this parade," Nutter explained. "Nearly 50 artists and photographers submitted artwork and photos for the adult competition and 14 pieces were selected for this competition."
Items are spread out through the building, from the of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy on the first floor, to display cases on other floors. You can enter through the Northeast corner of City Hall.
The exhibit is running through February 24, 2012.
