PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With the escapist summer movie season in the books, the 2012 Oscar races will soon be coming into view as the serious-minded fall feature films taxi down the runway.

Everything is still on paper at this point, but as-yet-unseen movies seeking prestigious awards that have been made by and/or star artistes with Academy Award pedigrees usually get our Oscar-anticipating attention when they open late in the year.

So expect at least some of the following big-screen projects and performers to end up in the Oscar competition by the time we start taking the races seriously as the 2012 calendar winds down:

Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman portrays a character resembling L. Ron Hubbard in Oscar-nominated director Paul Thomas Anderson's Scientology-suggesting drama, The Master.

Oscar winner Viola Davis joins Oscar winner Holly Hunter and Oscar nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal in the inner-city-school drama, Won't Back Down.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Ben Affleck directs an ensemble cast that includes Oscar winner Alan Arkin in the based-on-reality thriller, Argo.

Oscar winner Helen Hunt and Oscar nominees John Hawkes and William H. Macy collaborate on the sex-surrogacy drama, The Sessions.

Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis directs two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington, Oscar winner Melissa Leo, and Oscar nominee Don Cheadle in the airline-investigation mystery drama, Flight.

Two-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis portrays our 16th President for two-time Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg in the biographical drama, Lincoln.

Bradley Cooper and Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence co-star in the Philadelphia-set dramedy from Oscar-nominated director David O. Russell, the based-on-the-book Silver Linings Playbook.

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee brings a best-seller to the screen, the Pacific Ocean-set adventure drama, Life of Pi.

Oscar nominee Keira Knightley reunites with her Atonement director, Joe Wright, in a new adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy classic, Anna Karenina.

Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper follows up The King's Speech with the movie musical, Les Miserables, co-starring Oscar winner Russell Crowe and Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway.

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow, coming off The Hurt Locker, features Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain in the hunt-for-Osama-bin-Laden drama, Zero Dark Thirty.

Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz star in Best Director Oscar winner Quentin Tarantino's revenge thriller, Django Unchained.

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett stars in Oscar winner Peter Jackson's adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien epic, The Hobbit.

And Oscar nominee Bill Murray portrays President Franklin Delano Roosevelt opposite three-time Oscar nominee Laura Linney in the FDR drama, Hyde Park on Hudson.

That ought to get your moviegoing juices flowing...
