'Motown The Musical' At The Academy Of Music
By R.J. McKay
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Frances Egler, the director of Broadway Philadelphia programming and co-presentations at the Kimmel Center, spoke to KYW Newsradio about the journey of Berry Gordy, which became "Motown the Musical."
"He's the producer of the show, he wrote the book and it's basically his story of how he took the music of Motown, Detroit and made it into the successful, sort of legend of American music that it still is today," Egler explained.
"Motown the Musical" will be at the Academy of Music from January 6th through January 18th. If you like Motown music, Egler says you'll love "Motown the Musical" because all of the biggest hits are performed.
"I believe it's over 40 different Motown hits," she said. "It would be…hard to find one of the best-known Motown hits that is not in this show, which is great…and the dancing as well."
