Motorcycle Ride Honors Fallen Plymouth Township Police Officer Brad Fox
By Todd Quinones
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Officer Brad Fox who served two tours in Iraq has been called an American hero, and tonight he was honored like one.
The ground rumbled as hundreds on motorcycles rode by.
Officer Brad Fox's pregnant widow was obviously touched by the enormous show of support for the Plymouth Township K-9 officer and former marine.
She, along with family members sat and watched as the procession passed by.
"They [the family]wanted to be here to see this. I think they are overwhelmed by the support of the community who came out to do this," one rider said.
"I was coming down on the ride and I got goose bumps over my body. He's here in spirit," motorcycle rider Mike Bidwell said.
The ride started at the Philadelphia K-9 academy in where officer Fox was trained.
It ended at the Plymouth Township Police Department where riders passed by officer Fox's patrol vehicle and his family.
"We are gathering our strength through them. They are some strong people. I see where Officer Fox came from and I can tell why he was such a great guy," Plymouth Twp. Police Chief Joe Lawrence said.
"I also have personal friends of mine who served with him in the military and the Marine Corps who came and rode with us down here. They are with his family right now," Regulators Motorcycle club member Joe Riddick said.
Earlier in the evening, officer Fox's widow kissed his patrol car. It was the same car he jumped out of Thursday night moments before police say he was shot and killed by suspect Andrew Thomas, who also shot and killed himself.
Hundreds of strangers lined the route to show support for the murdered officer, his family and colleagues.
"Look at all the people here. There's really nothing you can say," Plymouth Twp. resident Rick Sucro said.
