Mother of Trayvon Martin Makes Emotional Speech at Philadelphia Appearance

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The mother of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin was the featured speaker today at a luncheon of the National Urban League, meeting this week in Philadelphia.
Sybrina Fulton received a standing ovation from a crowd of about 2,000 people at the Pennsylvania Convention Center before launching into an emotional speech about her slain son, her shattered life, and her faith in God.
"My message to you is, please use my story, please use my tragedy, my broken heart to say to yourself, 'We cannot let this happen to anybody else's child,' " she said.
Fulton also attacked Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, and said she would not let the not-guilty verdict rendered to her son's killer, George Zimmerman, define who Trayvon Martin was.
"No prom for Trayvon, no high school graduation for Trayvon, no college for Trayvon, all because of a law that has prevented the person who shot and killed my son from being held accountable and paying for his awful crime," she said, her voice quavering.
