Coroner: Mother And Son Killed In Rt. 309 Crash Were Not Pushing Car

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- The Montgomery County coroner has identified the two people killed in yesterday's crash on Route 309 near Fort Washington (see related story), as police continue to investigate.
Dr. Walter Hofman says 54-year-old Esther Louis and her 21-year-old son, Richard Guerrier, both of Philadelphia, died of multiple injuries, and he believes they had no way of knowing what was about to happen to them.
Contrary to original reports, Hofman says they were not pushing the Lincoln Town Car after it broke down Monday afternoon in the center lane of northbound Route 309 (see previous story).
He says Guerrier, the son, was looking under the hood while his mom was standing off to the side.
"They were not pushing it," Hoffman said today. "The son was trying to see what was going on and got rear-ended by a Lexus, and both were dead at the scene."
The 54-year-old woman who was driving the Lexus was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There was no immediate word on whether any charges would be filed.
Hofman says the son died a day before he would have turned 22 years old.
