Mother, 2-Year-Old Injured After Car Drives Into McDonalds In Delaware
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A woman and her two-year-old daughter were injured Saturday afternoon after a car struck a McDonalds restaurant in New Castle County.
The crash happened a little before 1 p.m. in the 800 block of South College Avenue in Newark. Police say a 17-year-old man was attempting to pull a 2012 Dodge Caravan into a parking space on the west side of the restaurant when it accelerated and hit the building, partially exposing the women's bathroom.
At the time of the crash, a 31-year-old woman was inside the restroom, changing her 2-year-old daughter on the mounted table which was connected to the wall that was struck. The child sustained a head injury and the mother sustained a minor leg injury. Both were transported to Christiana Hospital; the mother has since been released. The driver did not sustain any injuries, according to police.
It's not known why the car accelerated. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
